BASSETERRE, St. Kitts: – Friday, February 21st 2014: As part of the month long celebration of History and Heritage within the Federation of St. Kitts & Nevis, LIME (a council member of The Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society) lent its further support to the society. The theme for this year’s activities is “Conserving our Environmental Heritage: with a special emphasis on Plants”.
One of the highlights of the events was the St. Thomas/St. Anne Heritage Trail Logo Competition, which was open to both primary and secondary school students of the Tyrell Williams Primary School, the Verchilds High School, the Sandy Point Primary School and the Charles E. Mills Secondary School. Emerging as winner was Ms. Trudella Spencer, a 4th form student from the Verchilds High School.
In demonstrating LIME’s continued commitment and support of excellence, along with its interests in the preservation and promotion of our historical and cultural heritage sites, General Manager of LIME, Mr. David Lake was among those attending the launch of the St. Thomas/St. Anne Heritage Trail Logo. The event was held during morning assembly at the Verchilds High School on Monday 17th February 2014.
At this ceremony the young and talented Trudella Spencer was recognized not only by her fellow classmates and teachers at the school, but also by LIME through the presentation of a Samsung Galaxy Tablet for her winning prize. The presentation was made to Ms. Spencer by Mr. Lake.
The Management and Staff of LIME congratulate Trudella for her creativity and skill in producing what is now the official logo of the St. Thomas/St. Anne Heritage Trail and wish her all the best in her future artistic endeavours.
LIME wishes to encourage all in the Federation to learn more about our historical and cultural heritage sites and become more proactively involved in there preservation not only for our generation, but for generations to come. Our historical and cultural heritage sites form part of the rich and vast cultural identity of each and every Kittitian & Nevisian. LIME applauds the dedication and hard-work of The Brimstone Hill Fortress Society as it continues to preserve, protect, and promote our cultural history and identity.
