BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, FEBRUARY 24TH 2014 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas has reaffirmed the commitment of his governing St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party to increase the number of university-trained nationals.
“If we are going to advance the development of St. Kitts and Nevis, we need more persons to be trained at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC), the University of the West Indies (UWI), the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) and other universities in the Republic of China (Taiwan), in Cuba, in other parts of the Caribbean, in the United States and elsewhere,” said Prime Minister Douglas in a recent interview with Channel 8 TV on St. Croix, in the United States Virgin Islands.
Prime Minister Douglas used the opportunity to express thanks to the University of the Virgin Islands for granting 25 more scholarships to students from St. Kitts and Nevis to complete degrees at its campuses on St. Thomas or St. Croix, after gaining associate degrees at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) in St. Kitts.
“The University of the Virgin Islands has done a lot for our students over the years. So coming together in a scholarship arrangement with my Government, the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College and the University of the Virgin Islands, gives us that opportunity to increase our university-trained nationals,” Dr. Douglas said.
