On Sunday, 9th June, at the funeral service, former Olympian Kurvin Wallace paid a glowing tribute to the late sporting icon, Lester Blackett, on Nevis. Wallace mentioned that Blackett was the coach who helped him develop into the top sprinter that he became. As a result, he eventually became the fastest sprinter in the Leeward Islands and was later selected for the SKN Olympic team. Wallace also highlighted that Blackett was not only his coach but also one of his former teachers and former boss. He praised Blackett as a very good coach and generous person and emphasized how Blackett’s guidance and support helped him excel as a sprinter. Wallace expressed condolences to the family and concluded his presentation with a song.
