(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Many persons came out to the St. James Drag Race Track on Sunday, September 22, 2013 to witness race cars and bikes from St. Kitts, Antigua and host island Nevis in action. Although a number of islands canceled taking part in the meet because of the two ‘fallen’ dragsters, both of whom lost their lives in Anguilla while testing and tuning their vehicle in preparation for the Independence 30 Drag Meet.
Cars revved, tires burned and spectators celebrated while dragsters raced down the St. James Race Track. This as usual generated a lot of excitement as fans drew closer to the fence line to witness which cars would be first to cross the finishing line.
Many fans on the field were seen sporting ‘King of Cali’ and ‘Big and Sexy’ t-shirts- two of the ‘monsters’ on the track. However, at the end of it all, Gavin ‘Moon’ Clarke and his car, ‘King of Cali’ outshined Eustace ‘Smarty’ Nisbett and his car ‘Big and Sexy’. ‘King of Cali’ clocked the fastest time on the track, an astonishing 5.3 seconds in the 8 mile event breaking its own record of 5.5 seconds.
Once again Gavin walked away with the winning trophy and $2000.00 cash prize.
‘Big and Sexy’ was driven by Kareem Walters of Nevis while ‘King of Cali’ was driven by Alexandra Lopez from Puerto Rico.
