Another exciting game was played in the Runako Morton/TDC sponsored 2018 edition of the Primary Schools’ Cricket tournament, on Friday 29th June.
That is when the Ivor Walters Primary School, engaged, the St. Thomas’ Primary School, at the ET Willet Park.
The early batsmen for the St. Thomas’ Primary looked good, as they generally played the ball in the V and scored runs at a fair clip.
However, enter Shemuel Xavier and the youthful medium pacer, proceeded to put a dent in the St. Thomas’ innings, bagging 5 wickets for a mere 3 runs.
However, with 68 runs on the tins, St. Thomas’ Primary was still very much in the game.
The IWPS team started cautiously and after losing an early wicket, proceeded to make heavy weather of the target.
Even though they were not losing wickets, they were under serious pressure to score. Chris Browne and Lythe Browne were both kept in their shells and it seemed all over by the shouting.
However, Chris Browne finally heeded to the desperate calls from the coaches to hit out and took over 20 runs from one crucial over, ably assisted by Lythe Browne, who also caught the boundary virus in the same over.
IWPS won on a canter, as the overs almost ran out.
