Join the Department of Gender Affairs in its search for award-worthy women as it seeks to honour the ladies of Nevis in its annual International Women’s Day Award Ceremony, to be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
The International Women’s Day Awards Ceremony is an occasion to publicly acknowledge exemplary women in our community who have accomplished extraordinary feats through innovative thinking and pushing boundaries, demonstrating service and compassion for others, and making notable advancements in their field of work.
The theme for International Women’s Day 2023 is “DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality” and nomination is now open until February 10, 2023, for the general public to nominate women in the following categories:
The Blue Economy – Women who work in the industries of fisheries, marine transport or conservation, and coastal resources.
The Digital Economy – Women working in computer programming, software design, coding, e-commerce, online marketing, and IT education & training.
The Green Economy – Women who work in climate change mitigation, environmental protection, ecosystem protection and recovery, and disaster risk reduction
The Orange Economy – Women who work in the cultural, visual, and performing arts; radio, TV, print, photography, or creative writing.
Women in Science – Women working in all science fields including, biology, chemistry, ecology, oceanography, physics, zoology, etc.
Women in Nontraditional Roles – Women working in fields normally dominated by men including architecture, carpentry, construction, mechanics, and heavy equipment operation.
Nomination forms can be collected from the Department of Gender Affairs, upstairs the GMBC Building on Government Road or at the Ministry of Health And Gender Affairs, Administration Building, Charlestown and returned by the deadline of February 10, 2023.
Along with the nomination form, a biography outlining the nominee’s achievements in the appropriate field and the wider community is to be presented.
