Charlestown-Nevis-The Disaster Preparedness office in Nevis is warning residents on the island to urgently move into preparation mode, as the hurricane season for 2018, has officially started, today Friday 1st June.
The Nevisian public is kindly asked to take the warning seriously, as some of the weather experts are not only predicting another busy season, similar to the one last year, but also forecasting the probability that those islands that were not too seriously affected last year, will be the ones targeted this time around.
The named storms for this year are:
Alberto | Helene | Oscar |
Beryl | Issac | Patty |
Chris | Joyce | Rafael |
Debby | Kirk | Sarah |
Ernesto | Leslie | Tony |
Florence | Michael | Valerie |
Gordon | Nadine | William |
A weakened Subtropical Storm Alberto made landfall Monday afternoon-28th May, in the Florida Panhandle, showering the Southeast with rain and killing at least two people.
