(EMU) – St. Kitts, October 28, 2013: A seminar to boost student self-esteem, social interaction and classroom engagement has been organized by the Health and Family Life Education (HFLE) Programme of the Ministry of Education.
The series of workshops from October 30 – November 1, will feature sessions for students, parents, principals, teachers, education officials and guidance counselors, all from schools participating in the Single Sex Classroom Program.
Areas of focus during the three days of sessions will include; Practical Strategies for Struggling Learners, Academic Engagement in the Classroom; The Development of Pro-Social Behaviour; Differentiated Instruction; Self-Efficacy; as well as Gender Differences and their Implications for Learning.
School and its Implications for the Future; Peer Pressure and Self Esteem are among topics to be discussed at the student session which will be held on Wednesday October 30 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The Parenting Session will be held on Thursday October 31 from 5:30 to 7:30pm and will focus on how to foster a love of learning; the Role of Parents in the Development of Their Child’s Self Concept as well as How Self-Concept and Efficacy Influence Learning.
The round of sessions will finish on November 1 when guidance counselors discuss Fostering Student Engagement and Working with Disaffected /Delinquent Youth.
The venue for the workshops is the Ocean Terrace Inn Conference Room.
