The Charlestown Secondary School held its annual sports meet on Sunday 10th March, at the Mondo track.
Despite initial concerns raised about the day of choice and the fact that international cricket was being played in St. Kitts on that same day, a bumper crowd showed up for the event.
The athletes of the four houses, competed in the 400, 800; 1500; 200; 100; 4×100 and 4×400 meters events and there was an intensity in the contest, as several records went flying.
The Top Performers Were:
Tamarley Wilkinson-first in under 14 males1200 meters-broke record previously held by Alexander Caines and also came second in the 100 and 200 meters.
Sasha Parris-won the under 14 females in the 100, 200 and 400 meters
Jashelle Weeks-won the under 18 girls 100, 200 and 400 meters
Alexander Caines broke the record in the under 16 males 800 meters, previously held by himself and Trabelse Henry
Leroy Chapman broke the under 20 males record in the 400, previously held by Izaun Ward and the 200 meters record, previously held by Miles Walters. He also came second in the in the 100 meters
Kamarley Newton broke the under 16 boys 400 meters record, previously held by D’Atryel Stanley and the 200 meters record, previously held by Marcus Dubbery. He also won the 100 meters event.
T’Anna Liburd broke the under 16 girls 200 meters record, previously held Teneisha Perkins and the 400 meters record, previously held by Renika Daniel. She also won the 100 and 800 meters events.
Timothy Caines broke the 800 meters record previously held by T’Jah Liburd and the 1500 meters record, previously held by Austin Bart. He also won the 200 and 400 meters races.
Records were also broken by Green house in the 4X100 meters under 14 and under 16 males events.
