Guyanese Go One Up In Three Match Series
Cricketing action has resumed at the Hardtimes Play field in earnest.
This time around, it is an unofficial tournament which is being coordinated by Michael WISE Herbert and his hard working committee.
It is a three match series for a grand trophy, between the Guyanese team and the Rawlins team.
On Sunday 25th August, the first match was played in front of a fair sized and enthusiastic crowd.
The Guyanese team won the toss and elected to bat first.
They were off to a slow start, as the bowlers bowled in good areas and kept the batsmen in check.
As the innings progressed however, Skipper Anand briefly broke free and along with Manc, got the scoreboard ticking at a faster pace.
Curtis Morton Sr managed to stop the run flow in his lone over, when he picked up three wickets for one run.
The Guyanese got to 91 for 6 from their allotted 15 overs.
The Rawlins team in response, lost wickets at regular intervals, with Carlon Smithen being the stand out batsman.
However, when he fell, the Guyanese tightened the screws, even though, it came down to 10 runs required from the last over.
The Rawlins team though, just did not have the fire power left and the Guyanese prevailed.
Summarized scores: Guyanese 91 for 6 from 15 overs:
Anand 37;
Manc 22
