BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, APRIL 23RD 2013 (CUOPM) – Construction of another multi-million dollar condominium-hotel is to start this coming July in St. Kitts.
A ground breaking ceremony for Pelican Bay Limited at Potato Bay, Frigate bay is to be held on May 13th 2013 with construction starting in July 2013 to be completed in December 2014.
The US$90 million new development will see the construction of the 210 one-bedroom condominium hotel by a conglomerate comprising Surrey Paving Ltd, (St. Kitts and Nevis), Contec DT Ltd and Sterling Asset Management Ltd (Jamaica) on a six and one half (6.73) acres of gently sloping land, cascading down to the deep blue Caribbean Sea.
“Besides the 210 one -bedroom condominiums, the project consists of two infinity pools, two restaurants, a fitness centre, spa, office and administrative support as well as a business centre on four parcels of land totalling 6.73 acres of Frigate Bay,” said Director Charles Ross.
Pelican Bay is intended to be a luxurious oasis of condominiums and amenities designed to meet the every need of its guests. The project will blend classic sophistication and Caribbean comfort with modern convenience.
“Most importantly this development is intended to be run as a condominium hotel, which will offer the island of St. Kitts a sustainable and healthy source of economic activity over the medium to long term,” said Mr. Ross.
Local St. Kitts professionals ranging from engineers, lawyers and contractors have been engaged to assist with the execution of the project, which is expected to boost the GDP/capita as a result of an increase in the volume of valued added services generated from the operation of the condominium hotel.
Increased visitor traffic to St. Kitts will result in a greater demand for local goods and services. Increases in both the temporary and full time labour force are anticipated due to the construction of the development as well as its on-going operation with as many as 250 persons employed.
The on-going hotel operations will also generate spin-off economic activity due to their demand for a wide range of goods and services from local companies.
