The Joycelyn Liburd Primary School (JLPS), held its annual sports meet on Thursday 5th March, at the new-look St. George’s Recreation Grounds-aka BALL PASTURE.
As is the tradition, Principal Barbara Hendrickson, ensured that the meet commenced promptly at 12.30 pm with a word of prayer.
The Methodist Church Drum Corp, led out with the impressive march past and the two distinguished patrons of the day, in Nelson Boland and Mrs. Zara Hanley-Mills, took the salute and inspected the teams.
The meet was one out of the upper echelon. The athletes competed fiercely in the 400, 800, 200, 60, 100, 4×100, 4×400 meters races, along with the hurdles and some fun races.
The afternoon climaxed with another relay matchup between the Police and two civilian teams, with the Police again, winning quite handsomely.
The final point standings were:
Green house -454 points-champions
Red house-397 points
Blue house -317 points
