Leeward Islands record holder, Harvey Pierpont Stapleton, was given a grand send-off on Saturday 9th July.
The funeral service which was conducted by Pastor Cecil Bartlette was held at the United Pentecostal Church, located at Stoney Grove.
Several outstanding tributes were made, which included words from Her Honour, Deputy Governor-General, Mrs. Hyleta Liburd; Vernel Powell, Shelly Liburd and various individuals representing some of the various churches that he attended.
The eulogy was read by his nephew, Fitzroy STOCKY Williams, during which he expounded on the record-breaking feat done by his uncle in a Leeward Islands encounter when he got rid of all 10 wickets while representing the USVI versus St. Kitts.
Another fitting tribute was paid to the late cricketer, coordinated by the Nevis Cricket Association, as several local cricketers raised bats in his honour as the coffin was passed under, just after the conclusion of the service and also at the burial grounds.
Also included among the scores of individuals attending the funeral service, were Premier Mark Brantley and President of the Nevis Cricket Association, Carlisle Powell.
