(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Teachers, students, parents, family and friends of students and supporters of the Maude Smith Pre-School gathered at the United Pentecostal Church Marion Heights on the morning of Thursday, July 11, 2013 to celebrate its 2013 Graduation ceremony under the theme, ‘where the twig is bent the tree is inclined to grow’.
It was a spectacular sight to see the graduates who came out in their numbers so elegantly attired in the orange color of the school.
The ceremony started with the invocation by Mrs. Labriska Phillip, who delivered a very touching prayer that put everyone in good spirits.
Vanessa Destouche gave a powerful rendition of the National anthem. This was followed up by the opening remarks by Mr. Laurence Richards.
The supervisor of the school, Mrs. Josette Myers then gave an account of the achievements of the school over the past year. She congratulated the staff and students for a job well done. She had positive words of encouragement for the graduating students who will soon be entering Primary School.
After remarks by Education Officer responsible for Pre-Schools, Mrs. Dawny Lanns, the feature address was delivered by Mrs. Marva Roberts. Mrs. Roberts encouraged the students to always have respect, to always be on good behavior, to always listen attentively. The graduates promised that they would always do as she asked.
Sema then presented the Certificates to the students, while Teacher Myers and Takesha gave awards to the parents.
Many poems and songs were rendered by students of the school and the graduating class. The final items on the program included a poem, ‘It’s not goodbye’, a touching song rendition by the graduating class, ‘I am a promise’.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Violet Clarke and this was followed by the recessional of graduates and staff of the school.
