Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 16, 2016 (SKNIS)—As part and parcel of its good governance agenda and in thanksgiving for its first year anniversary in office, the Government of National Unity will meet the people at a Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday February 17, 2016 at 7pm at the St. George’s Anglican Church Hall on Victoria Road, Basseterre, under the 1st Anniversary Week of Activities theme “Working to Ensure the People’s Prosperity”
The Town Hall Meeting will be carried live on ZIZ Radio (96 FM).
Prime Minister Harris has said that his young government has been the envy of many governments around the world in terms of the many achievements it has accomplished in just one year.
Dr. Harris said that some of the achievements of his young tripartite government include the removal of the Value Added Tax (VAT) from food, medicine and funeral expenses, $16 million EC payout to disenfranchised former sugar workers, $25 million EC to Nevis in budgetary support and the ending of the shift system at the environmentally health plagued Basseterre High School (BHS) by building a temporary structure with plans of a new BHS in the near future.
He asked Team Unity’s supporters to be patient because his government has only had one year in office and said that many things had been accomplished in one year and many more things will be accomplished as his Government advances the agenda of the people because ultimately “the people will judge the government for keeping its promises.”
Wednesday’s town hall meeting will be chaired by Attorney General Honourable Vincent Byron Jr and parliamentary representatives will be in attendance to listen to the people.
