The second phase of the closing ceremony to conclude the Swim to win Easter camp was held at the Yachtsman’s beach, on the afternoon of Friday 22nd April.
The featured speaker at the ceremony was the Director of Sports on Nevis, Mr. Jamir Claxton.
Claxton noted that it was a mandate of the Ministry and Department of Sports, to ensure that every child on Nevis gets an opportunity to explore the various avenues of sporting activities available to them and specifically as regards swimming, it is the ultimate goal that every single child on Nevis, learns to swim.
He thanked chief coordinator Terri Andrews and professional swim coach, Anne McClindon for the tremendous work that they would have done with the children and pledged the continued full support of his department and the Ministry, in the efforts to achieve the stated goal.
Also on hand and presenting the certificates to the deserving children, was the Assistant Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Mrs. D. Michelle Liburd –Rawlins.
