Coach Al Richards of Conaree commended his players for earning a hard-fought point against the defending champions. “Well first, let me say well done to my team. I feel like we could have walked away with the three points. We had our chances, and our moments, especially in the second half. But I think we made some (mistakes) in terms of finishing and executing. But all in all, I must say well done to my team. We did not lose so we give ourselves a chance for the next game,” Richards said.

Manager of St. Paul’s Derionne Edemade conceded that they are struggling a bit defensively due to injuries to some of their key players. “One of the things that we are working on is getting healthy. Our defense right now is a little bit injured. If you look at tonight’s game, you realize Petrez (Williams) did not play at all. We’re still playing without Imari Fyfield, so it’s like the defense right now is going through a transitioning phase. We’re happy that we have players who are able to step in and play their role,” Edmeade said. “We are confident with the players that we put on the field…we will be able to win any game or to defend when we have to,” he added.

Meanwhile, on Monday, MFCR Old Road United Jets edged Cayon Rockets 1-0. The goal was scored in the 77th minute from the penalty spot, courtesy of Tiquanny Williams, to give Old Road their first-ever playoff win. The 2023 SKNFA Super Six playoffs continue at the technical center on Friday when Conaree FC takes on Newtown United.
