A brief but significant ceremony was held at the Nevis Athletic Stadium on Thursday 15th June Damien Kelly who is originally from Rices Village in Gingerland Nevis and who is vacationing with his entire family in his homeland, made presentations of Football gear.
The ceremony was chaired by the Hon Eric Evelyn who is incident the cousin of Kelly.
Kelly made the first presentation of football shorts jerseys and T-Shirts to the Hardtimes Football Club and its associate club the Queen City girls’ team.
The gifts were accepted by Vellie Maynard and Curtis Morton Jr respectively who both expressed heartfelt thanks and vowed to make good use of them.
One of Kelly’s sons Kyle, who actually plays for the famed English football club Liverpool then presented a similar package of shorts jerseys and T-Shirts to the Youth and Sports Department.
These were accepted by Sports Minister Hon Troy Liburd who expressed his gratitude and then handed them over to the Deputy Director of Sports Brian Dowe, who indicated that they will be utilized by the young footballers on Nevis.
It is understood that the Kelly family will be on the island until Sunday and so will be able to see Hardtimes and the Queen city team do battle at the Nevis Athletic Stadium this weekend.
