Long-serving Coach of the Bath United Football Club, Alex Claxton, has warmly congratulated Bath United’s outstanding defender, Jalden Myers on his selection to the St. Kitts –Nevis National football team.
He recalls getting his first sighting of the youngster, as a mere four-year-old, enrolled in Bath United’s grassroots program.
He indicated that from that early age, he spotted something special in the player and noted that one afternoon he actually came early and set up the cones and was working the ball on his own.
After that, he featured in the Charlestown Primary School’s B team and later forced his way into the A team, where he excelled.
He later made his way into the Bath United senior team and now serves as captain of the team and one of the main defenders, along with Aljae Newton who previously had the distinction of making the national team.
Coach Claxton noted that gone are the days when the Bath team went to St. Kitts and members of the opposing teams would ask ‘How many goals do you want to lose by?’
Now they recognize that Bath United is a force to be reckoned with and has players who are forcing the national selectors to have a close-up look.
The team’s goalkeeper, Vibert Stephens, has also made it to the national team and Coach Claxton is confident that there are ‘more to come.’
He is happy to see that the work he has put in with the players of the club, is definitely bearing fruit.
Kudos to Jalden Myers!
