Charlestown-Nevis-Mrs. Florence Liburd of Craddock Road, turned 101 on Thursday 25th February.
A brief celebratory ceremony was held in her honour at the home of the late Rupert Byron, situated at Ramsbury.
The program was chaired by Coordinator at the Seniors’ Division, Mrs. Garcia Hendrickson who led the gathering in the singing of the well know hymn: ‘Great is thy faithfulness.’
Caregiver for the area, Miss Angela Challenger, read a passage of scripture: Ps 90:10-12 and the granddaughter of the celebrant, Rev. Bonnie Byron, delivered an inspirational prayer.
In her brief remarks, Minister of Social Development, Hon. Hazel Brandy-Williams, noted that Mrs. Liburd was obviously still of a sound mind and able to participate in conversations with her many visitors and was also able to walk up the steps to the home with minimal assistance.
She also pointed to her immaculate dress and impressive looking hat as applaudable features about the celebrant.
She thanked her for her sterling contribution to the society and then presented her with a fruit basket, complements of her Ministry.
All present, then lustily sang the ‘Happy birthday’ song and wished Mrs. Liburd many more blessed years of health and strength.
