The semi finals in the inaugural Village Premier League (VPL) were played on Sunday, Dece,ber 14, 2014 at the Hard Times Playing Field, Gingerland.
Match one, proved to be an upset of sorts, as the Butlers team, with the addition of Merlin Liburd, beat the more reputed Empire team, to qualify for the finals.
Butlers batted first and scored 132 from their ten overs.
Empire lost Adelvin Phillip early and struggled thereafter. They could only muster 92 in response.
Match two was even more exciting, as a spirited Thrash Dem out team, scared the daylights out of tournament favorites, ‘JahBass’ team.
‘JahBass’ team batted first and scored 122 for their allotted ten overs and the ‘Thrash Dem Out’ team fought tooth and nail, right down to the final over.
They needed 11 runs from the final over but Sylvester Browne bowled a superlative over from which amazingly only one run was scored and the JahBass team was able to breathe a collective sigh of relief as they seized a finals berth.
The finals will be played on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at the Hard Times Playing Field.
