Fifties for Athanaze and Imlach as tour match ends in draw

SUMMARY; West Indies scored 346-8 declared in 90 overs (Alick Athanaze 99, Amir Jangoo 63*, Kraigg Brathwaite 34, Mikyle Louis 34, Kevin Sinclair 28*, Joshua Da Silva 22, Keacy Carty 22; Mohammad Rameez Jr. 3-64, Ahmed Safi Abdullah 2-91) and 177-5 declared in 40 overs (Alick Athanaze 58*, Tevin Imlach 57*, Kavem Hodge 36; Muhammad Musa 2-5, Ali Raza 2-32) against Pakistan Shaheens, who made 212-9 in 58 overs (Muhammad Hurraira 74, Mohammad Suleman 45; Kevin Sinclair 3-50, Jayden Seales 2-18, Gudakesh Motie 2-21) and 128-2 in 30 overs (Muhammad Hurraira 80, Omair Yousuf 25; Jomel Warrican 2-23).

The West Indies XI and Pakistan Shaheens settled for a draw in their three-day tour match. Both teams delivered competitive performances but ultimately cancelled each other out in the final push for a result in Islamabad on Sunday.

Resuming day three with a commanding 134-run lead after the Shaheens declared their first innings at 212-9, the West Indies XI set the Shaheens a daunting target of 311 after declaring their second innings at 177-5.

In response, the Shaheens mounted a solid batting effort, reaching 128-2 by the close of play to ensure the match ended in a stalemate.

Alick Athanaze again led the West Indies XI, adding a second half-century to his stellar 99 in the first innings. His composed knock of 58 off 84 balls included seven fours and two sixes, showcasing his form ahead of the crucial two-match Test series against Pakistan.

Tevin Imlach also impressed with a fluent 57 off 65 balls, featuring nine boundaries that helped maintain momentum for the visitors. Mikyle Louis (5), Joshua Da Silva (13), Keacy Carty (1), Kavem Hodge (36), and Amir Jangoo (0) were the batsmen dismissed.

Mohammad Musa Khan, who captured 2-5, and Ali Raza, who took 2-32, were the leading bowlers for the Shaheens.

In pursuit of 311 for victory, the Shaheens adopted a slightly aggressive approach, anchored by opener Muhammad Huraira, who scored a sparkling 80 off 80 balls, including 12 fours and two sixes.
