Empowering Families, Building Safer Communities: Enhancing Social Work Practices in St. Kitts and Nevis

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts: The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police congratulates Sgt. Charmaine Audain and Constable Delvin Williams of the National Intervention Team for completing the Empowering Families, Building Safer Communities workshop, which ran from August 12 to 16, 2024 at the Solid Waste Management Conference Room. This comprehensive training was designed to enhance family-focused case management practices across the Federation.

Facilitated by Mrs. Michelle Blake and Ms. Dorn Henry, the workshop introduced participants to innovative approaches rooted in the Prevention and Intervention Family Systems Model (PIFSM) and the Bodega Model. These models provide practical tools that empower social work practitioners to address issues related to at-risk youth and reduce recidivism.

By focusing on family dynamics and leveraging familial strengths, this program equips our officers with the knowledge to collaborate more effectively with communities. This approach not only strengthens families but also contributes to the creation of safer environments throughout St. Kitts and Nevis.
We look forward to seeing the benefits of this training in their daily duties.
