Elaine Thompson-Herah Set to Open at Prefontaine Classic

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two-time Olympic sprint double champion, Elaine Thompson-Herah, will open her 2024 season when she competes in the women’s 100m at Saturday’s Prefontaine Classic at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
The organisers announced on Wednesday on their social media platform that Thompson-Herah, who started working with coach Reynaldo Walcott earlier this year, would return to the Diamond League meet for the fourth straight year.
Thompson-Herah had set the Jamaican national record of 10.54 seconds at the Prefontaine Classic in August 2021.
Five other Jamaicans have also been confirmed for the meet: national record holders- Natoya Goule Toppin in the women’s 800m and Adelle Tracey in the women’s 1500m; Olympic Games 110m hurdles champion Hansle Parchment as well as women triple jumpers Shanieka Ricketts and Kimberly Williams.
