Charlestown –Nevis- The Eden Browne Church of God dance group, walked away as proud winners of the Gospel dance competition hosted by the Department of Community Development, on Friday 25th May.
The competition, which was part of a massive show put on by the Department, as part of the activities to celebrate Community Development month, was staged at the Nevis Cultural Village in Charlestown, in front of a packed audience.
The other competing dance groups were: Daughters of Destiny; Faith in Christ Ministries and Chosen Vessels.
The judges for the competition were: Paul Challenger; John Hanley; Vera Herbert and Vernicia Walters.
The four competing groups, wowed the appreciative audience with their skillful dance moves.
At the end of the head scratching by the judges, the final results were as follows:
Eden Browne Church of God –Champions with 358.5 points
2nd place-314 points-Daughters of Destiny
3rd place- 296 points-Faith in Christ Ministries dance group
Immediately after the dance competition, another crowd pleasing contest was held. This time around, it featured eight of the top local gospel artistes on the island, in a competition which featured their vocal skills, in a song of their choice.

Lovelle Thomas ~” ‘On my Knees’ by Jaci Velasquez
Joyelle Phillip ~ “That name” by Yolanda Adams
The judges for this competition were: Wayne Moore; Kimone Moven; Veta Morton and Jack Gumba.
The judges admittedly also had quite some problems to determine the eventual winner but the results came in as follows:
Winner: Eliesel Ramirez-343 points
2nd place- 332 points- Lovell Thomas
