The annual Emmanuel EDDY Caines Football program, got on the way, at the Nevis Athletic stadium-aka -The Mondo track, on Monday 10th July.
Over forty boys and girls have booked up for this year’s program, which as per usual, boasts of a number of sponsors.
Caines himself chaired the opening ceremony and thanked the parents for once again entrusting their children to his care.
He stated that the program was in its 18th year and still going strong.
He indicated that the children will be taught the basic football skills, which will hold the Primary School students in good stead, for the Primary schools’ football tournament, which comes up in the new term.
Also addressing the gathering, was the sponsor representative for the Bank of Nevis, Manager Everette Martin.
He noted that his institution has been sponsoring the program for the last eleven years and indicated that he would be speaking with Mr. Caines about how how the bank can assist in improving the program, going forward.
He also had words of advice for the children, in terms of their positive development.
A representative for the Nevis Cooperative Credit Union, Kenroy Warner- Information, Communication and Technology officer, noted that his institution has been involved with the program for twelve years.
He told the children that he too played football from the primary school level upwards and asked them to learn as much as they could, as there is ‘a lot of money in this Football business.’
