Trinidad and Tobago battled to a draw against Guyana in the CWI U19 Championships on Sunday but could not avoid finishing sixth in the tournament.

After bowling out Guyana for 249, T&T was bowled out for 90 and followed on with 71 for 5 in their second innings.

Fareez Ali top-scored with 44 not out as Goolcharran Chulai wrecked T&T with 6 for 15 while Krishna Singh had 3 for 40.

Asked to follow on, T&T stumbled to 71 for 5 with Joshua Davis getting 23 not out.

Lovell had 2 for 12 for Guyana, while Andrew Lim had 1 for 2.

Guyana finished fifth in the two-day tournament with T&T in sixth.

Barbados overpowered Jamaica in the final to take the title at Arnos Vale.

After scoring 200 for 9 on Saturday, Barbados restricted Jamaica to 127 for 8 with Saurav Worrell (3/24) and Jatario Prescod (3/51) taking the lion’s share of the wickets.

Steve Wedderburn top-scored with 39 for Jamaica, while Matthew Morgan had 33.

Barbados in their second innings posted 172 for 2 to close out the draw and the title.

At Sion Hill, Windward Islands took third place after an improved second innings batting performance almost clinched a win against the Leeward Islands.

After securing an 18-run in a low-scoring first innings, Windwards posted 151 for 8 with Lee John top-scoring with 28.

Chasing 170 for victory, Leeward Islands got to 99 for 7 when a draw was declared.

T’yanick Honore scored 56 to hold up the Windward Islands advance to victory.

Jelani Joseph (2/6) and Kirsten Murray (2/24) took the Windward Islands to the brink of victory but they had to settle for third place in the tournament.

The 50-over tournament begins on Tuesday.

Trinidad and Tobago face the Leeward Islands at Sion Hill, while Jamaica battles Guyana at Arnos Vale.

Barbados commences their hunt for the double against the Windward Islands at Park Hill.
