The Leeward Islands Cricket Board is hosting its under-19 male cricket tournament in St. Kitts and Nevis this year. The matches will be played at the ET Willet Park, with Nevis hosting all three scheduled matches.
Starting today at 10 am, Nevis will play against their arch-rivals, St. Kitts. On Saturday, April 20th, they will compete against the defending champions, St. Maarten. On Sunday, April 21st, they will face off against Antigua & Barbuda.
The St. Maarten team has been preparing for some time now and recently performed well in a local tournament. Two sons of Brian Morton, Ezekiel and Samuel, will be playing for the team. Ezekiel is the captain and a talented all-rounder who will bat between 4 and 6 and also bowl as a very accurate left-leg spinner. Samuel is a decent lower-order batsman and bowls a nippy fast-medium. Michael Palmer, the son of well-known sports organizer DANGO Farrell, will open the innings. He is a dangerous batsman who loves to hit the ball out of the park. In a previous tournament, he even hit a six that sailed over the pavilion at the VOJN grounds. The St. Maarten team is confident and ready to win the tournament.
The Nevis team is also strong and has performed well in recent tournaments against more experienced players. They are expected to do well in this tournament as well. The team includes Jevon Manners, Delroy Prentice, Ajani Didder, Carlton Pluck, Kenron Freeman, Rondre Daniel, Akadianto Willet, Lythe Browne, Amoree Jones, Jhadorne Herbert, Leshawn Weeks, Ulano Smithen, Theron Webbe, Tayshawn Wilkinson, Jaden Browne, and Deshawn James.
The tournament promises to be exciting, and the general public is invited to come and witness some great cricket matches.
