History was created on Wednesday 28th June, as the first official cricket match to be played at the renovated Zion cricket grounds, was played.
As part of the Runako Morton/TDC Primary Schools Cricket tournament, the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School engaged the ST. Thomas’ Primary School, at the Zion, SEA BREEZE PARK.
The grounds and pitch were in picture-perfect condition, thanks to Dio Hendrickson and his team from the Easterns Cricket Club.
There was even a mound in place, complete with vociferous spectators, under umbrellas.
St. Thomas’ Primary won the toss and elected to bat first.
They got to a competitive 56 for 5 in their allotted 10 overs, led by Bolus and Honders- Maynard.
In response, JLPS was led by an unbeaten knock from Skipper Nyanjah Liburd and a helpful addition of 18 extras, to overhaul the target in 8.4 overs.
