Cricket Anguilla Steals Nevis’ Joy

The grand finals of the 2024 Luther Kelly Over 35’s tournament were held at the Caribe Lumber Ball Park on Sunday, December 1st. In the finals, Anguilla faced off against Nevis.

The Anguillans won the toss and chose to bat first. An exhilarating opening partnership led by Monticin Hodge saw them race to 58 runs without losing a wicket by the fifth over. However, as the Nevis spinners came into play, wickets began to fall, and the runs slowed significantly. Eventually, Anguilla finished their innings with a total of 119 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

In response, Nevis started slowly, and despite a valiant effort from Stuart Williams towards the end of the innings, the Anguillan bowlers and fielders successfully stifled the Nevis batting lineup. Nevis ultimately surrendered at 103 runs for 8 wickets.

In the earlier matches that took place on Friday, November 29th, the results were as follows:

– Nevis vs. Anguilla – Match rained out, with each team receiving one point.
– St. Kitts defeated St. Maarten, needing just 60 runs to win.
