COMMISSIONER’S LECTURE PROVIDES OPPORTUNITY FOR RANK AND FILE INTERACTION

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 05, 2015 (RSCNPF): A motivational lecture by the Commissioner of Police (Ag) Stafford Liburd  to the Subordinate Police Officers, Station Officers and Gazetted Officers assigned to the St.Christopher Division was the backdrop for the sharing of concerns and possible solutions  at a meeting on Wednesday (November 4th)  at the Police Training Complex.

The Commissioner challenged the officers to continue their vigilance as they go about their duty. “You will be held accountable, I want Inspectors and Sergeants to spend more time on your work, develop your subordinates, and ensure processes are being followed so we can get the desired results,” he told the group.

Addressing some of the recent challenges faced by the Police Force, Commissioner Liburd told the officers,  that with regards to firearms, there will be accountability, “accountability in the privilege to carry, accountability with regards to use,” and expressed that there is an ongoing review of the Force’s Firearms Policy.

Uniform worn by Senior Officers, the Police Welfare Association and planned facility upgrades were also addressed by the Commissioner in his remarks. The members of training class “40” were given a welcome and a charge of duty. “You have entered a noble profession, embrace and remember the core values you will be taught, look out for each other, you are the future of the Force,” he told the new recruits.

The assembled group also heard presentations from the heads of the Violent Crimes Unit, the Criminal Investigations Unit and other units within Force about their ongoing activity.

Commissioner Liburd expressed to the team, he wanted to hear from them and a hearty dialogue of concerns were shared, and many solutions were brought forth.
