Commissioner CG Walwyn is extremely proud of the performance of the Police Junior Drum Corps at the 30th Independence Parade that was held at Warner Park Football Stadium yesterday ( 19 September 2013).
The Drum Corps was re-established in 2010, and presently consists of thirty (30) members ranging from 11 to 20 years old, and also ranging from 1st form to the CFB College in the education system.
These young ambitious members of the Drum Corps displayed an excellent performance and impressed the Commissioner of Police and also many of the spectators who attended the parade. This year, the Junior Drum Corps proudly showed off its new ceremonial uniform.
The Senior and Junior Police Drum Corps fall under the leadership and guidance of the Commandant of the Police Training Complex, but, is supervised by the Deputy Commandant, Inspector Eldrin Dickenson, who is assisted with the training by Sylvester Huggins.
Commissioner Walwyn, who was once a member of the USVI Police Pre Cadet Program, was impressed and over joyed with the performance of the Police Junior Drum Corps, and stressed the importance of finding positive educational groups to keep children occupied and out of harms way.
Commissioner CG Walwyn posed in a photograph with the members of the Drum Corps which is indicative of his support and appreciation of the members of the Drum Corps for their support and dedication to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, and service to the country.
Commissioner C. G. Walwyn takes this opportunity to thank the parents and guardians, and other family members of the members of the Junior Police Drum Corps to allow them to be a part of this august body, and help in developing a cadre of youth who are willing to serve their country. He also wants all members of the Drum Corps to know that the High Command, the other Gazetted Officers, and the rank and file of he Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force believes in them and are proud that they are a part of the Force.
