Charlestown-Nevis-Director of the Community Development Department, Mrs. Janet Meloney, on Tuesday of this week officially released the dates for the Christmas tree lighting ceremonies, throughout the various communities across the island, for 2016.
She noted that Christmas is a much anticipated time of year and she opined that the season will be a great one for the people of Nevis.
The Christmas tree lighting ceremonies will commence on Wednesday 30th of November with the Grand National ceremony, which will be held as per usual, at the Memorial square in Charlestown.
Mrs. Meloney stopped short of naming the patron for this year but paused to pay tribute to the late Stephen Hanley, who passed away recently and who was the honoured patron last year.
She noted that this first tree lighting ceremony will be one with a difference and one the general public cannot afford to miss.
Quite apart from the usual speeches and carol singing, there will be a live concert, hosted by the Nevis Youth Department, which will feature some of the finest singers and acts on the island. The ceremony commences promptly at 6.30 pm.
