(EMU) – St. Kitts, June 7, 2013: Activities organized by the Early Childhood Development Unit in celebration of Child month have gotten off to a pleasant start as children around the Federation participate in activities which are leaving them excited and expectant.
With preschoolers awaiting the big parade day at the end of the month, the level of excitement is building while schools are taking part in activities in their communities and parents are being given a change to join in by seeking support from other adults.
Some preschoolers and their parents attended church with their parents and teachers on Sunday June 2nd in thanksgiving for the month ahead. On Monday 3rd some preschoolers went out to sell tags and promote Child Month by way of flyer distribution while others, who were stopped by rainy weather, participated in that activity later in the week.
Director of the Early Childhood Development Unit, Mrs. Jacquelyn Morris, told the Education Media Unit that she is heartened by the level of participation thus far and called on the general public to visit the art and craft exhibitions which are being displayed in preschools around the island.
Parade Day in Nevis takes place on Friday June 7th.
Next on the calendar of events for Child Month are the Rural West Concert in St. Kitts on June 11, Staff Development Day in Nevis on June 13th and the Family Food Fair in St. Kitts on June 14th.
