(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- The Cultural Complex was full of life on Thursday, June 20, 2013 with a concert and cultural explosion as the celebration of Child’s Month continued.
The event saw a colourful procession of children, teachers and parents who came out to support the event.
Pre-schoolers and toddlers from the daycare centers throughout the island hit the stage displaying different acts taught by their teachers.
Parents gathered at the stage with devices to snap pictures as their child/children came onto the stage. The best moment of the afternoon proceeding was when representatives of each pre-school modeled designs made from the national flag colours.
This event was coordinated by the principals of the pre-schools and the Ministry of Education. This was done to highlight and raise awareness about the importance of early childhood education in the education system in St. Kitts and Nevis.
This year Child’s Month is being celebrated under the theme, ‘Early Stimulation: The Key to Positive Child Outcomes’. This month saw the Federation’s children participate in various educational and fun activities.
Principal of the Vern N’ Llew Pre-School, Mrs. Vernitha Collins delivered the vote of thanks. She used the opportunity to thank everyone for coming out. She also commended the teachers and the Department of Education for their hard work in making the event successful.
The last activity to commemorate Child Month is a Fun Picnic to be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013.
