Charges Laid For Drugs Found Inside Water Heater
Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 22, 2018 (RSCNPF): Both Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise Department and the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force have laid charges after drugs were found concealed in a water heater.
Two persons were taken into police custody in relation to the find. One person was released and Remeo Tweed of Kittstoddarts was charged by the Customs and Excise Department for False Declaration, Importation of Cannabis Sativa Concealed in a Container, Importation of Restricted Goods to wit Cannabis Sativa, and Attempted Fraudulent Evasion.
Additionally, the police formally charged Tweed for the offences of Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply and Importation of Cannabis. He has since been released on bail.
On January 17, 2018 Customs and Police Officers carried out a search on a package marked “Prestige Trucking Services”. The box was being cleared by the owner of Prestige Trucking Services, Mr. Remeo Tweede.
As a result of the search, twelve (12) packages with a vegetable material suspected to be cannabis were found inside a water heater that was enclosed in the box. The twelve (12) packages have a combined estimated weight of 8,337 grams (about 18 pounds).
