Carnival Costume

St. Kitts & Nevis National Carnival

This section for the Junior Carnival Parade proudly showcases the national colour ‘RED’. Although red signifies blood which is historically associated with sacrifice, danger and courage, the National Flower, the Poinciana, is being represented here because of its lush red colour along with its unique and very beautiful appearance. Young revellers in this section should feel proud leading the charge in telling the world that SKN is full of people who are PASSIONATE, LOVING and JOYFUL.

FEMALE COSTUME – Full length red leotard with a Back Piece which represents the one petal on the Poinciana that is different from the rest. The middle inner petals of the Flower adorns the waist in the shape of a skirt; while the stalks are used as shoulder and foot pieces. The embellishments on the wrists, ankles and headpiece all come from the yellow and red coours found in the centre of the exotic coloured petal. The Neckpiece is a full glitter/diamond V-shaped necklace with the flag of St. Kitts and Nevis.

MALE COSTUME – Attire features a red shirt with a matching red short pant. The Back Piece represents the red petals of the Poinciana while the embellishments on the knees, wrists and forehead come from the yellow and red colours found in the centre of the exotic coloured petal. The Neckpiece matches that of the Female Costume.
