Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 20, 2018 (RSCNPF): Two brothers involved in the bust at the Vance Amory International Airport have been charged by both the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise Department.
On June 14, Customs Officer, Travonne Bryant and his brother, Tivonne Bryant who is a Port Officer, were in Police custody following a joint operation at the Vance Amory International Airport. One .357 Revolver with a number of ammunition were recovered inside a DVD player, while several packages of a substance suspected to be cocaine were discovered concealed in what appeared to be a colouring set. Travonne and Tivonne are both from Brick Kiln, Nevis.
The men have since been formally arrested and charged by the Police for the offences of Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition, Smuggling, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply. Travonne Bryant was also given thirteen (13) charges by the Customs and Excise Department: four (4) counts of Importation of a Restricted Good not in Accordance with the Conditions and Restrictions Imposed, four (4) counts of Importation of a Quantity of Goods Packed in a Manner Intended or Appearing to Deceive a Customs Officer, four (4) counts of Attempted Fraudulent Evasion and one (1) count of Removal of Goods from a Customs Controlled Area.
