The High Schools’ Championship which was revived last year and which showcases the athletic abilities of the three secondary schools on Nevis viz Charlestown Secondary School; Gingerland Secondary School and the Nevis International Secondary School, will be held this year over the two day period of 10th and 11th March, at the ET Willet Park.
The event will be sponsored in the main this year, by the Bank of Nevis.
This announcement was made by Mr. Kelvin Bramble of the Youth and Sports Department, as he chaired a recent ceremony at the Bank.
Marketing office at the renowned institution, Mr. Pheon Jones, noted that the Bank is always interested in the holistic development of the students on the island and pledged the bank’s continued support to them.
Director of Sports, Jamir Claxton, opined that the Bank was the lead corporate citizen, who would have assisted students in a wide variety of fields and thanked them for their sponsorship of the event.
He used the opportunity to introduce the committee charged with making the event a reality and a success:
Jamir Claxton-chair; Shirmon Caines –Deputy chair; Lester Blackett-technical; Vijay Harinarine-marketing and public relations; Kelvin Bramble-transportation-and security; Diane Hobson- opening ceremonies and awards; Zahnela Claxton-special gusts services; Raymond Smith-infrastructure and venue management; Ercia Blake-Secretary.
Mr. Jones then presented Mr. Claxton with the sponsorship cheque of a whopping $15,000.00.
