Barnes Ghaut-Nevis- The community of Barnes Ghaut Village will once again be in focus as the community members host the much loved Breadfruit FES.
The village has been renowned throughout the years, for its abundance of breadfruit and decided in 2014, to highlight the product and demonstrate the wide variety of sub products that can be derived for it.
Community Development Officer for the St.Thomas’ Parish, Mrs. Lydia Thompson-Claxton, indicated on Monday 15th February that the Breadfruit FES as it is commonly referred to, will be held at the Barnes Ghaut Community Center on Saturday 27th February.
The activity will commence at 9 am and will continue until 5 pm.
The entire Nevisian community is welcomed to visit and be a part of the exciting day.
A small fee of $3.00 will be charged per adult and $2.00 for children. Once the individuals would have paid, they will be given three chips (tickets) which will entitle them to the privilege of sampling three of the products on display.
The many samples will include: Breadfruit chips; breadfruit drink; Breadfruit salad; breadfruit cheesy and many more locally made delicacies.
Additionally, the Agro processing Unit will also have items on display made with breadfruit as a main ingredient.
Mrs. Claxton used the opportunity to invite all and sundry to make an effort to be a part of the event.
