ATHLETICS ZARIO CHUMNEY STARS IN ST.JAMES’ ROAD RELAY
Zario Chumney was the ultimate star as he took the spotlight at the annual St.James’ road relay on Friday 8th February.
The mixed package of junior boys and girls commenced their first leg at Brick Kiln and ran towards the school, exchanging batons at three other stations before storming into the school’s premises.
The mixed senior boys and girls teams commenced at Camps Village, exchanging batons enroute to the school.
Zario Chumney of Green house displayed super human efforts by running the first leg of the seniors’ event and then after being driven to the final baton station, completed the final leg of the race, despite showing obvious signs of fatigue. He actually crossed the finish line first, despite a stiff challenge towards the end of the race.
Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Janice Richards has however since indicated that she will not allow one student to be so pressured in the future. The house points resulting from the relays were:
Green House. 25 pts
Red House. 20 pts
Gold House. 15 pts
On Monday 10th February the houses all added crucial points as they engaged in the HEATS 400 and 800 meters races. The updated points tally is:
Green House. 91 pts
Red House. 94 pts
Gold House. 92 pts
