The 28th edition of the Gulf Insurance Interprimary schools’ meet, will be held in honour of the late Mr. Arthur Evelyn.
This grand announcement was made by Mr. Kevin Barrett, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, at a press conference, held just one day in advance of the mega event.
Mr. Barret noted that although Mr. Evelyn was a very humble man, he made major financial investments in the event, to get it to the stage where it is today.
The Branch Office Manager of the Gulf Insurance Company, Mrs. Lorraine Browne, indicated that she observed that Mr. Evelyn had a passion for the event and its success.
He not only put his funds into making it possible but attended and enjoyed the races with enthusiasm.
He was also very instrumental in arranging post-mortem meetings, to critique the event and plot the way forward, for improvement for the following year.
The Gulf Insurance Interprimary Schools’ meet commences at 12.00 noon today, at the Nevis Athletics stadium and is returning after a two-year hiatus, due to the ongoing covid -19 crisis.
