The athletic season for the schools on Nevis is well and truly on the way.
Fittingly, it was the champion Primary school on Nevis and indeed within the federation, Charlestown Primary, which got the action kick-started.
Despite the generally rainy outlook, there was much excitement at the school on Tuesday 17th January, as the school got set to host its cross-country relays.
Lots of excited parents, grandparents, siblings and other family members were on hand, to watch the children run.
Even the little drummers at the school were in their element, as some of them tuned up with a RED house song.
First out of the blocks, were the little ones from Kindergarten to Grade two.
At the rate at which they ran their route, it is obvious that the CPS is already sounding a strong warning for 2023.
Their race commenced at the back of the school, with batons exchanged along the way, as they made a right turn, close to the residence of Vaughn Anslyn and kept on that straight road, heading back to the front of the school, where they were greeted with resounding cheers.
For the girls, the results were:
1st Red House
2nd Blue House
3rd Green House
For the boys:
1st Blue House
2nd Red House
3rd Green House
More results in a subsequent report.
