The Nevis Interprimary sports meet, also known as the “Mini Olympics,” took place on Wednesday, April 3rd at the Nevis Athletic Stadium. Gulf Insurance and BONI were the main sponsors of the event, and former Joycelyn Liburd Primary School students Delvis Pemberton and Teresa Browne were the distinguished patrons. Thousands of spectators were present to witness the games.
The students competed in various field and track events, including the weight throw, 60, 100, 150, 200, 300, 400, 800, 4×100 and 4×400 meters races. All schools participating won at least one gold medal, making the event even more exciting.
Charlestown Primary School won the championship trophy for the fifth consecutive time, with 18 gold, 13 silver, and 13 bronze medals. Joycelyn Liburd Primary School came second with 13 gold, 11 silver, and 11 bronze medals, while St. Thomas’ Primary School took third place with 13 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze medals.
The other schools that participated were: Ivor Walters Primary School, St. James’ Primary School, Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School, Nevis Academy, Maude Cross Preparatory School and Violet O. Jeffers Nicholls Primary School.
