Members of the SKN Moves-Nevis Chapter, Sheilagh James and David Walwyn, sat down earlier this week to inform the general public that the now annual half-island relay walk, is still very much on.
The walk is scheduled to take place on Saturday 9th October and the established route remains the same.
The walk will commence at Brick Kiln Village, in the vicinity of the residence of Health Minister, Hon. Hazel Brandy-Williams.
There will be teams of five and also individual walkers.
For the relay teams, the first baton pass will be done a Butlers; the next at Fothergills; then to Market Shop; to the Brown Hill gap and climax, as per usual at the Fit Park, where there will be cool down exercises and a grand breakfast.
Registration is now open at a cost of $15.00 for persons who will be having breakfast and $10.00 for persons who will not be having breakfast.
Coloured bracelets will differentiate the walkers.
David Walwyn of the Fitness Center Gym is also offering one month at the gym, free of cost for registered persons so that they can prep themselves for the walk.
This year, the Ministry of Health is the platinum sponsor of the event, but there are several other sponsors on board, who will be named at a later date.
There will also be some nice prizes for the top performers.
Also, the first team to arrive will receive a grand trophy, compliments of the Ministry of Health and there will also be trophies for the second and third-placed teams.
Participants are reminded that the emphasis is on WALKING and not RUNNING, during the event and to take note that the established covid-19 protocols will be strictly adhered to.
As a matter of fact, the organizers are cautiously planning the event, being fully aware that it will only take place, based on the covid-19 situation on the island at the time.
