According to chief coordinator Sheilagh James, everything is in readiness for the commencement of the elimination phase of the NEVIS KNOCKOUT.
This event will be a challenging but fun exercise, between Private and Public sector teams, which will test the speed and endurance of the participants, over the set obstacle courses at the FIT Park.
Thirty-two persons were originally expected to participate, but Ms. James has indicated that by the time that registration closed, only sixteen persons had officially registered.
However, the competition is expected to be really exciting, as David Walwyn offered the athletes free practice sessions at the Fit Park and they have been training really hard.
The first set of elimination exercises are set to take place at the Fit Park this coming Saturday 17th September, starting at 5 pm.
However, the organizers are closely monitoring the weather system that is currently approaching the Leeward Islands and will make a judgment call, as to whether or not the first eliminations can be held then.
The eliminations are expected to take place over consecutive weekends, until the top two teams can face off on Saturday 8th October.
Competitors will seek to complete their best times in teams of two.
The main sponsor of the event is MASA-St. Kitts and Nevis- (The Medical Air Services Association).
Each participant will receive a participatory medal, a certificate and an SKN Moves –Nevis Chapter rosette.
The top three prizes are:
1st prize: 4 zip lining experience-courtesy of Delisle Walwyn –St. Kitts
2nd prize: Discover sail experience for two, for a duration of two hours-provided by Beach Additions, St. Kitts and the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Center.
The offer expires 6 months from the date of issue on 8th October.
