Wanda Parry, President of the Nevis Amateur Basketball Association, confirmed on Monday that two Basketball tournaments, catering for the youthful Basketballers on Nevis, will be run simultaneously, starting next week.
Both tournaments will be played on a parish basis. One will feature Basketballers who are under 16 and the other will feature Basketballers who are aged 16 to 20 years.
Due to the fact that the Grell Hull –Stevens Netball Complex is currently undergoing well needed repairs, the tournament will be mainly played at the Brown Hill hard court, with the possibility of games being played elsewhere on the island, if other courts become available.
There is absolutely no registration fee required and the winners will receive trophies and medals but Miss Parry is appealing to possible sponsors to indicate their willingness to sponsor the tournaments, so that the youthful players could receive even more tangible offerings for their efforts, as a means of encouraging them in the worthwhile activity.
The tournament commences at the Brown Hill hard court on Saturday 18th February, with an opening ceremony, which commences at 7.00 pm.
On Saturday and Sunday nights, two matches will be played-one for the under 16’s and the other for the 16 to 20 year olds.
However, for the Tuesday and Thursday night matches, only one game will be played.
