Jody Walters of KFC Trinity/Challengers United scored a hattrick to lead his team to a 4-1 victory over Rivers of Living Water FC in the 2023 SKNFA Division 1 League on Tuesday at the Lime Kiln Playing Field.
Waters scored in the 14th, 1st minute of stoppage time in the first half and the 83rd minute while the additional goal came from Cjay Thompson in the 67th minute. Jamarie Williams of Rivers scored the lone goal for his team in the 38th minute.
Walters said after the match that, he is super confident about excelling in the league his season, along with his team. “I’m always confident. When I wake up, I eat confidence, when I go to sleep, I sleep confidently. Confidence and a strong mind will always get you where you want to be in life,” Walters said. “We always must strive for better.”
Coach of Trinity/Challengers said Orrin Hughes said the strategy to beat Rivers, was playing balls on the width, stretching the team and finding open areas in the middle of the field. He said his team is improving game by game.
“We started our first match on the backfoot, but we have picked up wins in the second (match) and now the third. We can see that the players are building from strength to strength, even though at times it may seem a bit scrappy,” Hughes said..
In the night’s other match, Newton Ground Ballers dismissed Molineux FC 3-1 at Ottley’s Playing Field.
