(ST. JAMES PARISH, NEVIS) – It is said that while half of the island was overcast but dry the other half listened to rushing, forceful water racing through their backyards and through neighboring ghauts as heavy rainfalls lashed the Windward side of the island this morning, Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Nevispages understands that the heavy rainfall began in the St. James Parish sometime about 3:00 a.m. and continued until after 8:00 a.m. this morning.
This was certainly alarming to the villagers as they awoke this morning and witnessed what seemed to be a hurricane conditions.
Ghauts ran uncontrollably, bridges covered and rushing water covered the island main road.
Motorists were advised to be cautious especially in the vicinity of the Vance Amory International Airport and the Medical University of the Americas.
Amazingly, no rain was reported in any other part of the island.
