Windies Women Sneak into World Cup Semis

The Windies women sat and watched the intense preliminary game between South Africa and India.

The tension cut like a knife.

Their future in the ongoing world cup rested totally on this game.

To be more specific, South Africa had to win in order for them to progress.

The game was nicely placed as India had amassed a challenging total of 274 in their 50 overs.

South Africa needed 7 runs from the final over to seal the victory and a wicket from the first ball, did not help the Windies cause.

Two singles, a catch off a no-ball, all helped to add to the tension.

With one run required from the final delivery, Du Preez calmly flicked to midwicket to get the single and the room with the Windies women erupted into loud cheers

Captains Stefanie Taylor appeared to be the coolest in the room, but after the interview, she explained: ‘Someone had to be cool…”

So, the semifinals are now set:

Australia v West Indies –March 29th

South Africa v England-March 30th
